Overview:
The Production Optimization Engineer will work within the Production Department to provide leadership and coordination in the design, installation, operation and automation of manufacturing process equipment.
He/she will provide technical assistance and will identify and implement chemical process improvements to improve safety & environmental compliance, quality, productivity, and cost.
Summary:
Provides daily plant technical support to Production Staff to meet the day-to-day manufacturing demand.
Assists in developing long-term strategy in continuous improvements around safety & environmental compliance, quality, productivity, and capacity and capital planning.
Investigates non-conformance quality, safety, and environmental events.
Provides coaching and feedback to production personnel.
Provides training assistance to production employees.
Provides technical direction and quality focus on meeting customer satisfaction.
Providing design to support engineering projects, including using PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) to facilitate equipment automation.
Daily responsibilities include:
Requirements documentation, detailed design generation, implementation, system integration, testing and on-site startup.
Supporting installation and upgrades of hardware and software, including PLC automation system program for and process control systems.
Supporting installation, start-up and commissioning.
Assisting with validation of the qualified equipment and systems.
Identifying and researching advancements in processes, equipment, software and hardware to support cost reductions and improve quality and efficiency.
Determining capabilities and limitations of process equipment in order to improve rating and efficiency Improving product cost through productivity and efficiency improvements:
yield, rate and uptime Defining and implementing cost savings and improvement initiatives.
Participating in continuous improvement efforts, corrective action formulation, and root-cause investigations.
Working with equipment vendors and suppliers to recommend equipment improvements.
Preparing flow diagrams, P&ID's, equipment & instrumentation specifications, and mass & energy balances.
Working closely with Plant Management to diagnose, troubleshoot and improve processes Act as backup for plant critical positions during PTO usage and for on-call response coverage Domestic and foreign travel.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
